Case Study: Dunkin Donuts

Dunkin Donuts

RECENTLY, DUNKIN’ DONUTS AND TRANSFAIR USA HIRED THE EVOLVE MEDIA TEAM TO DOCUMENT THEIR FAIR TRADE COFFEE GROWING PRACTICES IN COLOMBIA.

The documentary was produced to promote the fair trade espresso beans sold by Dunkin Donuts. For nine days, our camera man Jason Joseffer traveled all throughout Colombia, filming at various coffee farms, while our other camera man, Mark Wotten flew to Boston, MA to film interviews with the Dunkin Donuts executives.

While in Colombia, Jason had to deal with transporting valuable camera equipment across the rural back roads of the small farms. Working on a tight time schedule, Jason had to contest with limited daylight, turbulent weather, and a language barrier. At the same time Mark was beating the streets in Boston, interviewing the locals and discussing the impact of fair trade on their lives.

Once finished, about 300 Gigs of footage was safely delivered to the Evolve Media studios for a final edit. But the story doesn’t stop there…Dunkin’ Donuts was under a tight timeline to deliver the final product to the world. Evolve Media had one week to review and edit over 60 hours of footage. That’s when we called in editor extraordinaire, Brendan Kruse. Because our client was in a hurry and needed to be involved with the edit from beginning to end, we rented a small studio space right next to one of the client’s homes in Palo Alto. We also had to hire a translator to participate in the edit. For seven straight days, Brendan met with the client and edited around the clock, delivering the final product on time and on budget.

Take a look at the final video and see how great fair trade is while learning what Evolve Media can do for you.
